UNLV Women’s Golf Headed to Columbus Regional for 2025 NCAA Golf Championships

Excellence has been the theme of the 2024-25 UNLV Women’s golf season, and the team is now
off to the Columbus Regional for the NCAA Women’s Golf Championships. UNLV Head Coach
Amy Bush-Herzer sees opportunity to finish among the top 5 and advance to the NCAA Finals.

“I saw the other teams around us and I'm actually really excited about it,” Bush-Herzer said.
“There are some logistics to figure out. So that was the other thing to figure out. A couple years
ago, New Mexico got sent there and had a real challenge finding flights in the short period of
time. We’re really excited about it. I think it’s going to be a great golf course. It’s a
championship golf course. Ohio State does a wonderful job as host and anything that they host.
I’m excited to get there and see the golf course.”

The team found out its destination during a watch party at the new UNLV Women’s Golf
Excellence Center at The Las Vegas Country Club. Heading to their third NCAA postseason in the
last four years, the Rebels will play at Ohio State University Golf Club from May 5-7.

The Rebels drew the No. 7 seed in a 12-team field headlined by Arkansas as the No. 1 seed, No.
2 seed LSU, No. 3 seed Ohio State, No. 4 seed Kansas and No. 5 seed Houston. Among those
teams, four are ranked in the Scoreboard Powered by Clippd top-25 rankings, including the No.
2 Razorbacks.

The top five teams and the top individual not on those teams at the 54-hole tournament will
advance to the NCAA Championship at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California,
being held May 16-21.

The Scarlet & Gray is coming off seven top-2 tournament finishes during the 2024-25 season,
including their wins at the MW Championship and Denver’s Ron Moore Intercollegiate.
Additionally, the squad has seen seniors Mayumi Umezu (Cowgirl Classic), McKenzi Hall (Jim
West Challenge) and Toa Yokoyama (Westbrook Invitational) each grab one second-place
individual finish on the year.

A fun fact is that with LSU in the same regional, the daughter of former UNLV men’s golf 4-time
All-American Chris Riley will also be in the Columbus field. Taylor Riley finished second in the
recent SEC Conference Tournament.
