Golfers love to practice on all-grass ranges. Following a renovation, that is always what it is at The Club at Sunrise. No mats. Ever.
“If you ask any golfer, hitting off grass provides the best feedback,” said Kevin McEvoy, general manager. “The game is played on grass, whether you’re competing in a tournament or playing with friends, so it’s always beneficial to practice the way you play. When you come out here to practice, you can expect excellent conditions and fair prices.”
The Club at Sunrise is a Clark County golf course and operated by Kemper Sports. It is a favorite of many locals who take advantage of the East side location and affordable rates, on golf and practice. Buckets starts as low as $3 with a huge bucket only $13.
“The project involved removing the artificial turf mats from the practice area, leveling the ground, and re-sodding it with Bermuda grass,” McEvoy said. “On the landing area, we took the four target greens and built them up so they now sit on elevated platforms. We also brought in more than 30,000 square feet of sod and installed it in about two days. The result is that golf balls now land on a much softer surface, allowing players to see how shots react and get a better gauge of the quality of their ball striking. Previously, balls would land on dirt, roll out, and it was difficult to accurately judge where they finished.”
McEvoy believes The Club at Sunrise practice area matches up with any area in Southern Nevada, given its size, conditions, and now all-grass driving range.
“We encourage golfers to come out and work on every aspect of their games,” McEvoy said. “Our range ball pricing is very fair, and the chipping and putting areas are always complimentary. We continually add sand to the practice bunker so it never gets too bare, and our greens are consistently among the best in the valley.”
