Reflection Bay Golf Tournament Is Just the Beginning for Rocky Mountain College Program

For the Rocky Mountain Men’s and Women’s Golf Programs, Reflection Bay Golf Club at Lake Las Vegas is more than a place to host a spring home tournament to get out of the cold of Montana. The partnership runs much deeper. –By Brian Hurlburt, video edit Trey Hurlburt.

It is a commitment from the entire team at Reflection Bay to support amateur golf at all levels, led by Eric Dutt, Director of Operations.

The 2025 Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Men’s and Women’s titles were won by British Columbia. Jonathan Larson from the Masters University and Emily Cornwall from British Columbia Okanagan won individual titles.

“The opportunity we have on this course and the facility is so appreciated,” says Nathan Bailey, head coach. “They are so gracious to us. To allow us to come down here and put this tournament together is amazing. The thing that probably makes me think about it the most is just how hospitable they are to us. It’s a great tournament, a great venue, easy to get to, and the teams love coming here. They keep coming back.”

For Jared Smith and Jake Johnson, both from Southern Nevada and alumni of the Southern Nevada Junior Golf Association, the tournament is a chance to play in front of family and friends, but they and their teammates are also welcomed throughout the year.

“It’s amazing,” says Smith, a junior. “I don’t think we would probably get as much credibility as we do with some of these other colleges without this facility and the support. This is a great tournament with some colleges that we may not play against normally, but this week we get the chance to compete against them and see where we stand.”

Johnson, who made the 2025 All-Tournament team, agrees with Smith, and has felt the support personally and team wise.

“They’ve given everything, especially me over the last six, seven years now,” says Johnson, a junior who played at Bishop Gorman. “They have given me the facilities, the equipment, the tools, everything that I can do to succeed. And especially for the team.”

The Rocky Mountain Golf Program plays and practices at Reflection Bay and utilizes the High-Performance Golf Institute that features Tour professionals Craig Barlow and Jeff Gallagher, along with custom club Fitters, Brendan Bergin and Bradley Keyer, himself a Southern Nevada Junior Golf Association alum.

“The amount of things that we get from Eric, from Craig, from the club fitters, from everyone is appreciated,” Johnson says. “We have always had a special bond with them and I think it’s going to continue in years to come. It’s just been an incredible experience.”

For Smith, Reflection Bay is more than a place to play.

“Reflection Bay is home to me, pretty much,” Smith says. “I’ve spent the last six years out here. I have so many supporters out here that help me along the way. It’s somewhere I can always come to and be comfortable.”

The support happens during tournament week but also throughout the year.

“We have become really close with the staff down here and got to know them, and they’ve become big supporters of Rocky Mountain year-round,” Bailey says. “It’s huge for our program and it’s huge to our school what they do.”
