UNLV men’s golf earned a 3-2 victory over Oregon on Wednesday to win the team title at the NB3 Match Play, hosted at Twin Warriors Golf Club (Par 72, 6,200 yards). Seniors Wyatt Plattner and Trevor Lewis, along with junior Ryan Abuan, provided the winning points in the final round. Plattner defeated Oregon’s Hugh Adams (6&5), Lewis won (2&1) over Aiden Krafft after making a long putt, and Abuan sealed the team win with a (3&1) result against Casper Nerpin.
Earlier in the event, Plattner and junior Zach Little each recorded match wins to help UNLV post 3-2 results over New Mexico and New Mexico State. The tournament format featured three days of head-to-head match play among collegiate teams.
Head Coach Jean-Paul Hebert said, “It’s always exciting to win, no matter the tournament, no matter the format. We’re honored to come out on top against some proud programs. Match play is a grind, and I know this stage provided a great learning experience for our guys. I’m very proud of all of them.”
