If you follow sports excellence, you probably have heard about the flow state for top athletes when they perform at the highest level. Nelly Korda, the 2024 T-Mobile LPGA Match Play presented by MGM Rewards at Shadow Creek, hopes to find it again this year. The T-Mobile Match Play is April 2-6, 2025, at Shadow Creek.
“You definitely get into a flow state where kind of everything is clicking, you’re getting the right bounces and everything is kind of going your way,” said Korda during her introductory press conference from Shadow Creek. “But I’ve also been on the other side of that. At the beginning of the year everything was flowing and at the middle of the year, nothing was going my way. So, you have to appreciate when you are in that flow state, but you can’t get too comfortable. It you get comfortable, it’s golf and it will humble you really fast. The flow state is when all the hard work is finally paying off, but golf is a grind and it’s always up and down. You have to appreciate the ride.”
Korda also appreciates where the LPGA Tour is playing this week. You could say that Shadow Creek is a course that is always in the flow state.
“The drive in is so unique and so beautiful,” Korda said. “The property is really, really pretty. When you stand on what is originally 18–we’re playing it as the ninth hole this week– it’s breathtaking. And the course is also very demanding off the tee and into the greens, and even on the greens. You have to be on 24/7. It tests every part of your game.”
