Hawaii Hilo Rallies Late to Win PacWest Title at Aliante Golf Club

At Aliante Golf Club, Hawaii Hilo surged at the right time to capture the 2026 Pacific West Conference Women’s Golf Championship. The Vulcans took the lead for the first time during the final round and held on to win their first conference title since 2014. They finished at 31 over par, two shots clear of Point Loma, which made a strong push after a difficult opening round and briefly tied for the lead late in the tournament before Hilo moved back in front.

Hawaii Hilo trailed by two shots after each of the first two rounds but stayed consistent while other teams fluctuated. The Vulcans posted a final round of 7 over par, the second best team score of the day, which proved enough to hold off Point Loma, who recorded the low round on Wednesday at 4 over par. Dominican, which held the lead after round two, finished third at 43 over par, followed by Westmont at 50 over and Hawaii Pacific at 61 over. Point Loma’s rally from 16 shots back after the opening round highlighted the competitiveness of the field.

Westmont’s Hannah Camara earned medalist honors, finishing at even par with rounds of 68, 74, and 74. She maintained control throughout the tournament and closed with a birdie and five pars over her final six holes to secure a two shot win over Menlo’s Kim Penzold, who finished at 2 over par. Isabella Iorio of Hawaii Pacific placed third at 3 over, while Elle Otani of Hawaii Hilo and Theresa Shaw of Vanguard tied for fourth at 4 over.

With the victory, Hawaii Hilo advances to the NCAA Super Regionals in Pueblo, Colorado, May 4 through 6, with additional PacWest teams and individuals still in contention for at large selections.
