Team golf is something special, and college golfers live it throughout the season, while their coaches hope to bring the best of their teams. For Brian Richey, he watched his Florida Southern team earn the school’s 14 title in history, but first under his watch and first since 2017. They won the 2026 NCAA Men’s D2 Golf Championships played at Boulder Creek Golf Club.
“I am grateful for these guys on this team and grateful for our program and just for all the support from the alums,” said Richey with tears in his eyes and as his team and fans celebrated on the 18th green at Boulder Creek Golf Club. “As a former player. it means a lot. They just put their heads down and we had a great game plan here. We played here this spring, like you mentioned earlier, and then last spring as well. We had probably the most amount of rounds in on this golf course. We had seen it in high winds, different directions, different green speeds, firmness. We knew we had a good game plan. We knew if we just played our game, we would have a really good chance.’
USC Beaufort’s Octavio Laurent won the indvidual title.
Florida Southern was led by Tyler Mistretta at 11 under and Anthony Monteleone at 10 under, while senior Max Barile–who won a preview event at Boulder Creek in late 2025–was 7-under par.
Boulder Creek has a deep history of hostoring major amateur events and is dedication to promoting and growing golf.
