Golf, Giving and a Life-Saving Mission In Full Swing at Iconic Las Vegas Country Club

There are not many causes more important than supporting organ donation. On Oct. 5, the Nevada Donor Network Foundation will bring business leaders, healthcare professionals, community advocates and sports figures together for a day built around more than golf at the iconic and historic Las Vegas Country Club.

The second annual Nevada Donor Network Foundation Golf Invitational will feature a special appearance by Basketball Hall of Famer Alonzo Mourning, a kidney transplant recipient and prominent advocate for organ donation Click now to play in the Nevada Donor Network Foundation Golf Invitational.

Nevada Donor Network Foundation President Gordon Prouty believes the invitational can help create awareness while developing relationships that strengthen the organization’s mission.

“The Nevada Donor Network Foundation exists for a deeply human reason: to help save and transform lives,” Prouty said. “Every day, families across Nevada and throughout the country are touched by the need for organ, eye and tissue donation. Behind every statistic is a person waiting, a family hoping, and a community with the ability to make a difference.”

The tournament was established to provide an inviting setting where supporters can learn more about donation and transplantation while connecting with others who want to make a difference. Participation opportunities include playing in the tournament, entertaining clients, sponsoring an experience or introducing the foundation to potential community partners.

“Our Golf Invitational was created to bring people together around that mission in a way that feels welcoming, meaningful and uniquely Nevada,” Prouty said. “It is a day where business leaders, healthcare partners, community advocates, athletes, friends and families can connect, not only around golf, but around the shared belief that relationships can create lasting impact.”

Mourning’s involvement gives the event a powerful connection to the cause. The former NBA champion underwent a kidney transplant in 2003 after being diagnosed with a serious kidney disease. He returned to professional basketball following the transplant and has since used his platform to promote health, transplantation and community service.

“We were honored to welcome Alonzo Mourning, whose own life and journey have made him an extraordinary advocate for health, transplantation and community,” Prouty said. “We proudly welcome him back again this year as we continue building relationships that extend beyond Nevada and connect communities across markets.”

Following the success of the inaugural tournament, organizers are working to establish the invitational as one of Nevada’s leading charitable golf events. Prouty sees the gathering developing into something that produces meaningful results long after the final putt is made.

“We believe this Invitational can become more than an annual golf tournament,” Prouty said. “It can become a platform for meaningful introductions, new partnerships, healthcare awareness and philanthropy, connecting people who may otherwise never find themselves in the same room, but who share the ability to change lives.”

The setting adds another layer to the occasion. Las Vegas Country Club has been part of the city’s golf history for nearly six decades and provides a fitting venue for an event that blends Nevada tradition, business relationships and philanthropy.

“Your presence, partnership and introductions can help us extend the reach of the Nevada Donor Network Foundation and ensure that more people understand the extraordinary power of donation and transplantation,” Prouty said. “We look forward to welcoming you to the Las Vegas Country Club for a special day of golf, friendship and purpose.”
