Coughlin Cruises to Five-Shot Victory in Las Vegas

Lauren Coughlin completed a wire-to-wire victory by five shots at the $4 million Aramco Championship at Shadow Creek, competing against a legendary field that included World No. 2 Nelly Korda. Coughlin closed with a level-par 72 to secure her third LPGA Tour title.

Coughlin finished at seven-under par, five shots ahead of Korda and Ireland’s Leona Maguire, who both birdied the final hole. Korda, seeking her 17th career LPGA Tour win, scored a 3-over 75 to finish runner-up for the third consecutive event, while Maguire shot 71. The victory marked Coughlin’s second wire-to-wire win on tour, following the 2024 ISPS HANDA Women’s Scottish Open, and came against a field featuring every player in the top 20 of the Rolex Women’s World Rankings.

Drawing on experience from her runner-up finish at the T-Mobile Match Play at Shadow Creek the previous year, where she played 127 holes, Coughlin delivered a steady performance throughout the final round. She extended her lead early with a birdie on the first hole and capitalized on key moments, including a two-shot swing at the eighth hole. “I just know I played really, really great all week,” said Coughlin. “Had a lot of fun. I’m just happy. You know, definitely left a sour taste in my mouth last year not getting the W given how well I played all week, so makes it extra special this week. It’s extremely validating. Going toe to toe with Nelly, No. 2 ranked player in the world in the same group, final group on a Sunday is extremely cool and hopefully give me a lot of confidence going into the rest of the year.”

Nelly Korda was unable to complete the comeback this time as she was disappointed by her performance in the final round. “I just didn’t play good golf today, Korda said. “I was hitting it pretty poorly off the tee and just finding myself in really tough positions going into the greens. Props to Lauren. She played some unbelievable golf. It was really fun to see today and it was fun to play alongside her.”

Coughlin sealed the victory with a birdie on the final hole after a precise approach to within two feet. Her performance is expected to move her from No. 32 to No. 12 in the Rolex Rankings. The win also capped a successful week for the Golf Saudi-organized event, which featured strong Easter weekend crowds, youth clinics for local Las Vegas golfers, and business and tourism discussions between the United States and Saudi Arabia as part of the PIF Global Series.
