A national spotlight will once again shine on Boulder Creek Golf Club from May 18 to 22, 2026, as the NCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championships return to the 27-hole facility, marking another major national event for the venue.
Boulder Creek offered a preview of what’s to come in March, hosting the Las Vegas Desert Classic, an NCAA tune-up event organized by the University of Missouri–St. Louis. The tournament provided an early look at several teams expected to contend for the national title.
Defending national champion West Florida staged an impressive comeback to capture the team title, while Florida Southern’s Max Barile claimed medalist honors.
“Today was the final round, and we shot 18 under. That’s incredible,” said West Florida head coach Steve Fell. “We wish we could have started better because we put ourselves behind the eight ball early, but we got it done in the end. Hopefully, we’ll be back here in May to defend our national championship. That’s been our goal all year. I really like this golf course. It’s a great challenge, especially when the wind picks up. It’s a strong layout, and the course is in good shape. I know it will be even better in May. They do a great job here. I love this place.”
Barile, who entered the final round trailing by three shots, surged to the top with a fast start.
“I was about three shots back entering the final round, so I knew I had to get off to a hot start, especially with the wind change,” said Barile. The front nine was very gettable. I think I was five-under through seven holes, and I just kept it going. I’m really honored to win at such a cool golf course. This place is awesome—it’s surrounded by mountains, and it’s a completely different feel compared to Florida. I’m excited to come back—not just after winning—but to take on the challenge the NCAA will bring.”
