Boulder Creek Hosts NCAA D2 Championship

Boulder Creek Golf Club played host to a memorable finish at the NCAA Division II Men’s Golf National Championship as The University of South Carolina Beaufort’s Octavio Laurent captured the individual national title on Wednesday evening.

Laurent finished the three-round championship at 17-under par, four shots clear of the field, to become the first NCAA Division II National Champion in Sand Sharks program history. His final round proved to be the difference as he poured in nine birdies over 18 holes while avoiding a single bogey, carding either a birdie or par on every hole.

Competing against a field of more than 100 golfers, Laurent totaled a tournament-best 22 birdies and added 27 pars during the championship. He also posted two of the event’s lowest rounds during the second and third rounds at Boulder Creek on his way to the title.

The championship capped a standout freshman season for Laurent, who also earned Peach Belt Conference Co-Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year honors, along with the 2026 NCAA Division II Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award and NCAA Division II PING First Team All-American recognition.

The team title will be decided on Friday.
