It’s a reputation that has been earned, and it is a rep that travels. The 27-hole Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City is known for quality conditions, playability, terrific greens, and for hosting some of the top amateur and professional events in the Las Vegas area. And 2024 might have been the biggest year yet.
In 2024, as in previous years over the last couple decades, Boulder Creek hosted several collegiate events, junior tournaments, high school matches, professional qualifiers, PGA of America chapter events, and more.
But there was one that stood out a little above the others.
For the first time in Las Vegas golf history, an NCAA national championship was played in our area as the Division III Men’s Golf Championships were played at Boulder Creek in May.
“It’s awesome whether it’s collegiate golf, amateur golf, junior golf, professional qualifiers, when players and coaches travel to Southern Nevada and have that competition here at Boulder Creek,” says Karl Larcom, general manager, Boulder Creek and Boulder City golf courses. “Our staff puts on a first class event regardless of what the competition is, and we always try to make the experience memorable. The golf course speaks for itself and is definitely competition-ready 365 days per year.”
A total of 43 teams and 221 participants competed at the 2024 NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championships May 14-17 at Boulder Creek Golf Club, in Boulder City, Nevada, with rounds also played at Legacy Golf Club. The event was hosted by UNLV and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
“This was my 36th National Championship and this has been the best-conditioned course we have ever experienced,” said Steve Conley, head coach of Methodist, the national champions. “Boulder Creek was exceptional and everything was perfect.”
Conley’s sentiments are shared by pretty much every player and coach who competes in an event at Boulder Creek and something the entire team at Boulder Creek takes pride in. The foundation for the welcoming of amateur and competitive golf was laid by Andy Schaper, the former general manager who left for a job in Arizona following the NCAA Golf Championships.
“Vegas and Boulder Creek are amazing and we talked about it in there with the coaches,” said Lauren Giesecke, head coach, Grand Canyon Women, who won the Division I Jack Rabbitt Invitational at Boulder Creek in 2024. “The course is demanding and a great challenge, and we all love coming to Boulder Creek for a lot of reasons.”
Boulder Creek is open to the public and has a strong reputation with everyday golfers as well. The greens are always talked about as being among the best in Vegas. Click now for more Boulder Creek information or tee times.
