Future stars of the LPGA tour wrapped up the second round of the reliance matrix championship presented by Epson at Spanish Trail Country Club; and with it came a new name atop the leaderboard. Dorsey Addicks carded her second consecutive 4-under 68 to claim the solo lead at 8-under heading into the weekend in Las Vegas. Local Yana Wilson is among the leaders tied for eighth at 5-under after two rounds.
Addicks had her second consecutive 4-under 68 on Friday to take the solo lead at 8-under heading into the weekend at Spanish Trail. The Montana native started strong with back-to-back birdies and added another on the par-five 18th after a bogey on No. 12. Despite a slow start on her second nine she bounced back with consistent play to finish off the round strong. “I’ve been playing really good golf, been hitting it well, struggled last week. It was kind of an anomaly… but this is kind of the golf I’ve been playing for a while now and just was waiting for it to show up on the Epson Tour,” said Addicks. “So, you know, going into the weekend, just continuing to play the same golf.”
Las Vegas golf fans have even more reason to pay attention this weekend, as local Yana Wilson continues to impress in her Epson Tour season. Wilson is a former Coronado High School Golfer and SNJGA member. She opened the tournament with a 5-under 67—her lowest round of the season—and followed it up with an even-par 72. “The cut means a lot to me since this is a home event,” said Wilson. “Most of my friends could watch Saturday and Sunday, so I’m really excited that they get to see me play.”
Rachel Kuehn joins her at T8 after a strong second-round 69, while Epson Tour veterans like Sophia Schubert and Agathe Laisne are in the mix at 6-under. With 12 players within three shots of the lead, including past Epson Tour champions and international standouts, Spanish Trail is primed for a thrilling finish.
The third round of Reliance Matrix Championship presented by Epson will begin at 7:00 a.m. local time with the leader set to take to the course at 12:00 p.m. local time.
