Lopes Go Back to Back at Boulder Creek Jackrabbit Invitational

Boulder Creek Golf Club is becoming a home away from home for the Grand Canyon Univ. women’s golf team. The Lopes won the Jackrabbit Invitational at the course for the second time in a row. Anna Dawson from Little Rock was low medalist. The event was hosted by South Dakota State women’s golf.

In six tournaments prior to this week’s Women’s Jackrabbit Invitational, the Lopes had won three and finished inside the top five each time. GCU added another team title trophy to its case with a dominant victory Wednesday at the Boulder Creek Golf Club, where the Lopes carded a team score of 17 under to finish 19 strokes ahead of second-place Little Rock in a 13-team field.

Tuesday was banner day for the Little Rock women’s golf team as several individual and team records were either matched or topped during the final round of the 2024 Jackrabbit Invitational at Boulder Creek Golf Club. Anna Dawson won the individual title, celebrating her 21st birthday with her first collegiate win, and the Trojans finished second in the team standings.

Little Rock’s three-round team total of 866 (287-297-282) set a new program record for lowest three-round score, eclipsing the previous mark by seven strokes (873, 2009). Their final round of 282 is the second-lowest single-round total in program history while the opening round of 287 ranks tied for fifth. Grand Canyon won the overall team title, finishing at 17-under (847). Little Rock’s total was 2-over par.

As always, Boulder Creek was also a star as players and coaches loved the layout and experience.
