It is time once again for the Major of the mini-tours, the annual $150,000 Nevada Open. First round play is nearly in the books and some golfers are already going seriously low.
In at -9 for the clubhouse lead is Chris Malec. Some golfers are still on the course. Malec hails from Fort Worth, Texas.

Some of the notables in the field include:
- Jhared Hack, who once shot 57 at Las Vegas Golf Club and has played on the Korn Ferry Tour.
- Cameron Barzekoff, the 2022 Nevada State Amateur Champion who has turned pro
- Ben Davis from Las Vegas
- Andrew Hawk, former Foothill High star
- Max Marsico, from Las Vegas and a Korn Ferry Tour pro
- AJ McInerney, a former UNLV and Coronado High star
- Grant McKay, who works for the SNGA and is a former Coronado High star
- Jack Trent, a former UNLV golf star
The event is hosted by Mesquite Gaming and the CasaBlanca Resort and is played at the CasaBlanca and Palm golf courses.
