All eyes of the golf world will be on LPGA Tour star Lexi Thompson as she becomes the 7th woman to play in a PGA Tour event when she tees off at 1:19 pm on the first tee at TPC Summerlin. Thompson played the course, feels ready, and impressed her playing partners. Commitment will be key. –By Brian Hurlburt
Thompson played her practice round on Tuesday of tournament week with Michael Kim and Ben Griffin.
“Michael and Ben were great, they’re so nice,” Thompson said. “We had a relaxing practice round. They helped me out on a few holes, giving me some tips on them. It was just a very chill practice round. Growing up with two older brothers that play I always grew up playing with them and their friends, so I’ve been used to it. It was nice to be out there just having a relaxing practice round and just kind of joke around and get some feedback from the guys.”

Kim and Griffin said Thompson more than held her own during the round.
“I thought she’s hitting it great,” Kim said in Golf.com article. “This course is probably a little longer than what she’s used to, but I thought she’s hitting it really well, and she’s going to have a good chance heading into this week.”
Thompson’s goal is to focus on putting in a solid effort and controlling what she can control.
“The first thing that comes to my mind about this week is I don’t really see it as a challenge (overall),” Thompson said. “Coming into a PGA TOUR event, being a woman, is a challenge. I just have to play within myself. I know my game. Don’t try to push anything. Play within myself and that’s all I can do. Try my best on every single shot, 100% committed. Whatever happens, I can only control my emotions and my game.”
