Vegas Golfer and Summit Member Alex Cejka Survives to Win Senior Open

Alex Cejka, a Vegas resident and member of the Summit Club, survived the grueling conditions of the final round to win the Senior Open Championship at Royal Porthcawl. He birdied the first playoff hole to defeat Padraig Harrington and win his third major on the PGA Tour Champions.

“I said to my caddie, par is bonus today, I don’t care how many pars we make,” Cejka said in an article on SI.com/golf. “If we finish, second, third, fifth, 10th, it doesn’t matter, let’s try to stay positive let’s try to play good golf, let’s try to make as many pars as we can, and we’ll see what happens.”

Heady winds and rain battered the players throughout the final round, when Harrington carded a 75 and Cejka a 76. Multiple players were in the 80s.

Cejka plays out the exclusive Summit Club in Las Vegas and is also sponsored by MGM Resorts International. He has now won three majors since turning 50 and enjoy a career renaissance.  In 2021, he won the Regions Tradition and the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship.

“I’m playing against Hall of Famers and major champions,” Cejka said. “I’m blessed that I’m able to tee it up with them and sometimes even beat them. So I’m really, really happy.”
