Southern Nevada’s Yana Wilson, 16, Ready for Big Stage of U.S. Women’s Open

Yana Wilson, as Tiger Woods would say, “dug it out of the dirt” to earn a spot in the 2023 U.S. Women’s Open to be played at Pebble Beach July 6-9. She earned a spot by winning the 2022 U.S. Girls Junior Amateur, which she will defend later this year. Here is a first-hand look from the lens of her father as she played the infamous 18th at Pebble during a practice round. –By Brian Hurlburt, Founder

Editor’s note July 12 – Wilson missed the cut with rounds of 75-82, but did beat several professionals and the experience will be invaluable as her journey progresses.

She played at Coronado High, winning a state title, and practices at Legacy Golf Club. She has committed to play college golf at Oregon.

Earlier this year, Wilson said the exemption into the U.S. Women’s Open was going to be “unreal.”

“This year is going to be the return of the champions and I am very excited to be there,” Wilson said on Golf Channel. “It is also going to be hosted at Pebble Beach and that is unreal. That course is obviously amazing. I am very excited to play there and compete against the world’s best.”
