Up North, Lauren Wong (Girls 15-18), RJ Arone (Boys 15-18), Ella Rawson (Girls 13-14) and Jaxson Stites (Boys 13-14) won crowns at the 2023 Nevada State Junior Amateur Championship. Arone and Wong are Southern Nevada Junior Golf Assocaiton members while Stites and Rawson play in the Northern Nevada Junior Golf Association.
The tournament was held June 26-27, 2023 at Dayton Valley Country Club.
Wong will attend Harvard in the fall and ended her state junior career in style.
“I’m so honored and grateful to have won this tournament,” she said. “It’s not about the result…it’s about being able to stay within myself and focus on the process.”
Arone went back-to–back at the State Junior and also added a Bishop Gorman team state title this year.
“Two wins in a row with state and now this tournament,” he said. “I’ll try to go for the three-peat next year at state.”
