Matthewson fired rounds of 73-69 to finish at -2 total to win the title to go along with his victory in 2022.

“What comes to mind about the win is just the affirmation that I can get it done in the clutch when I need to,” said Mathewson, one of the longest drivers of the golf ball in the Las Vegas area. “I made a lot of mistakes but to not really give up because you never know in this game. Hopefully carry that confidence into our section major Monday.”

The City Championship is part of the season-long Southern Nevada Chapter, Southwest Section, PGA of America schedule.

Heading into the event, Mathewson already had a commanding lead for the Player of the Year Points Standings while Dolan was leading the senior division.

The Section major Mattewson referred to is the 48th Southwest PGA Match Play Championship at Desert Forest in Carefree, Ariz.
