Anannarukarn Survives LPGA Bank of Hope Match Play at Shadow Creek

In a city that hosts countless college hoops events–including the Sweet 16 in 2023–a Vegas golf course as the site of a match play event with plenty of bracket busting, is more than apropos. “Survive and advance” is the mantra of college hoops March Madness, and that is exactly what Pajaree Anannarukarn did to win the 2023 event at Shadow Creek.

“Match Play is taking a lot of energy throughout the week,” Anannarukarn told the Associated Press after earning the trophy. “I’m really soaking it in right now. It’s been a great week, and I’m grateful for everything.”

She earned a 3 and 1 victory over Japan’s Ayaka Furue in the final match to win. The match ended on the par-3 17th and then she celebrated.

Anannarukarn is the first Thai winner on the LPGA Tour this season, a country so strong that it won the International Crown two weeks ago without Anannarukarn on the four-player team.
