According to Bill Rowden, Aliante general manager, the course is a local’s favorite for a variety of reasons.
“The first thing I think about is the good location and the value we offer,” says Rowden. “We also have a lot of people that practice here and love the practice facility. It’s all turf and no mats, and golfers love that. The balls are also in good condition, so the practice facility has been a hit (in more ways than one). We also have a lot of non-golfers who have breakfast, lunch and/or happy hour in our 3100 Grille because of the views and the values. As far as golf, and speaking on behalf of Elite Golf, we have really improved the conditions and playability of the course, the desertscape, and the homeowner’s views. The turf on the fairways is exceptional and the green conditions are fantastic. The bottom line is we offer a great value all the way around.”
Rowden also says Elite Golf and the Aliante crew have a very positive relationship with the City of North Las Vegas and assist with various city projects. Aliante is a jewel of the city and the only public layout in the general area.
“Our relationship with the city is fantastic,” Rowden says. “Our superintendent, Jeff Lezon, myself, and our staff, are always helping out with the city parks and the par three course. We work closely with Cass Palmer, the head of parks and recreation for the city. For going on the last five years, it’s been a fantastic relationship and we look forward to the future, as well.”
Lezon is a member of the Golf Course Superintendents of America Association with a Masters in Turf Management and Agronomy. Rowden credits Lezon and his team for turning things around.
“He’s done a tremendous job in bringing back the conditions,” Rowden says. “Listen, you have to have good greens if you’re going to get play and he has done a great job of creating great conditions for the golf course.”
The last word goes to GolfPass reviewer Jasobbkoo, who played Aliante in late August, and was one of several reviewers to recently comment on quality conditions.
“A Nice Surprise. Course was in great shape, Greens weren’t fast but not slow and fun to play. For a single handicap player, I had a great time.”
