Scenes from Day 1 Nevada State Women’s Golf Amateur at Boulder Creek

Some of the top women golfers in Nevada are playing Boulder Creek to determine the prestigious Nevada State Women’s Amateur Champion. After day one, several have a shot including overall championship division leader McKenzi Hall (-5) and three-time champion Veronica Joels (-2).

Amy Cho and Eunice Han are tied for second at -4.

Hall and Joels both play for the UNLV women’s golf team and local Southern Nevadans. For Joels, who has won the title three of the previous 4 years, keeping the trophy in the Southern part of the state is a nice goal to strive to do.

“Repping my coaches, UNLV and teammates is awesome,” Joels says. “There are four of us (Rebels) playing and that is awesome. … Keeping the trophy down South is what I want to do.”

The Silver State division features a gross and net divisions open to all players 18 and over. After round one, Regina Quintero leads the gross at +3 and Clara Heo and Becky Mannino are tied for the net at -4.
