Brown, Golf Tee Off Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame Week

Larry Brown says fate drew him to Las Vegas and his journey culminates with induction into the Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame along with the 2022 class of DeMarco Murray, Amy Purdy, Shawn Davis, Glen Gondrezick and Ryan Ludwick. Along the way, he played a little of golf.

Brown initially came to Las Vegas to pitch for the Las Vegas Stars in the team’s inaugural season in 1983, and over the last several decades, his dedication to sports helped create parks and sports facilities throughout Southern Nevada. He served as both a county commissioner and Las Vegas city councilman.

Brown will be inducted Friday, June 17, at the Dollar Loan Center in Henderson, the new home of the SNSHF exhibit. More than 600 are expected to attend.

On the course, Brown says he doesn’t live up to the reputation of “pitchers being good golfers” but he has also never had a bad day on the course.

The 2022  Induction week kicked off with a golf event at Southern Highlands Golf Club, home of the UNLV men’s golf team and a previous PGA Tour host course.
