Southern Nevada Women Take Home Titles at State Quad Event

It was all about Southern Nevada at historic Las Vegas National Golf Club during the recent Nevada State Golf Association Women’s Quad event. Both teams winning trophies were from LV.

The team of Tracey Blake, My Paulsen, Laura Smith and Christina Brandt won the gross title while the team of Tiffini Phu, Juliet Hebert, Christine Soscia and Julie Hahn were the net champs. The format for the two-day event was two best balls per four-person team.

Las Vegas National is no stranger to hosting amateur events and professional events. The course dates back to 1961 with the playing of the LPGA Championship when it was known as the Stardust Country Club. In 1996, it was one of three host courses for the PGA Tour’s Las Vegas Invitational when Tiger Woods earned first victory.

For the women playing in the state event, it was about fun as much as it is competition.

“We try not to take it too seriously,” Phu said. “We had two players play better yesterday and two play better today. We just all worked well together and it paid off.”
