Snyder shot a 5-under 67 in the second and final round to come back and win by three shots over Foothill’s Andrew Hawk. Snyder is a Loyola Marymount commit.

Coronado won over Shadow Ridge. Bishop Gorman was third.

Due to Covid-19, it was the first time since 2019 there was a state golf tournament.

“I am just so happy for the seniors and for everybody, because they have had to deal with so much over the last few years,” said Rusty Anderson, Coronado’s head coach. “It means a lot to me for a lot of reasons to see these players win this title.”

Sawaia also was appreciative of being able to play the event.

“I am just proud of the guys, happy for the guys,” Sawaia said. “It’s a younger group. We had a lot of new guys, new faces. It means a lot for me to be able to kind of help help lead them and get their first state championship.”

Hawk played in his final state tournament and choked up thinking about the moment.

“The first thing that comes to my mind is I had a great season out here for my senior season,” Hawk said. “It didn’t end it the way I wanted it to, but it is what it is. You can’t always play perfect golf there’s no defense in golf. If someone else just plays better, someone else plays better. My best high school memory is that it’s all kind of coming off the 18th hole today. I was able to hug a lot of people that I wanted to say thank you to and that was special.”
