Primm Valley, located about south of Las Vegas on the Nevada-California border, has two Tom Fazio designed layouts that will appeal to players of all abilities. Elite Golf manages the Primm Valley courses along with Aliante, Legacy, Mountain Falls, Spanish Trail and WildHorse.
While the two courses at Primm are on the same property, each layout’s makeup is a contrast in both look and design.
The Lakes Course, a par-71 layout that reaches 6,945 yards from the tips, definitely lives up to its name. Water comes into play on 11 of the holes and the challenges come early and often. The water features start with the par-5 second hole. At 530-yards, the hole winds its way around a deep-blue pond. Then bunkers galore guard a large, undulating green. Be ready, there’s much more to come.
Over on the Desert, which plays 7,131 yards and is a par-72 design, players will find an impressive contrast to The Lakes. There’s still water to get players’ attention, but the desert landscaping adds a nice scenic change to the layout. One of the more visually enticing–and challenging–holes is the 204-yard, par-3 9th. Players will take aim at the green from an elevated tee some 40-50 feet above. The green is guarded by bunkering as well as a pond…one of five water holes on this layout. But to be sure, and as Fazio said, “this is a golf course in the desert and not a desert course” so players won’t encounter a lot of target play and overly-penal holes.
And if you’re having a tough time deciding which course to play, fear not…play them both as the resort has golf packaging that will give players plenty of bang for their buck.
Finally, there are also a variety of stay-and-play package options that will give added value to the players’ golf outing or outings if they are looking to play multiple days.
